Many people have discussed and have taught ways in which you can increase your self-confidence, but not very many people have stressed why it is important for your confidence level to be high in the first place.
That changes today, as we delve into the importance of building and possessing a high level of self-confidence.
In a previous article, the definition of self-confidence was briefly discussed. To know the meaning of the term allows insight into the benefits of having self-confidence. To apply your new knowledge to your life allows you to set yourself on the path to happiness and abundance.
With self-confidence, you:
- Posses a more positive mindset that allows you to accomplish more in life
- Believe you can achieve your goals instead of having a pity party over all the reasons you can’t achieve your goals
- Look for solutions to problems instead of focusing on the problems themselves
- Try until you get something right instead of giving up
- Are generally happy instead of being generally sad or pessimistic
Why is it important to experience the things listed above?
The answer is quite simple. In order to accomplish your goals and to attain the things you want, you have to build and maintain your self-confidence.
Look at the flip side, for a moment.
- If you have a negative mindset, you might think the entire world is against you and is trying to keep you down.
- If you don’t believe you can achieve your goals, you won’t even try.
- If you focus on your problems rather than solutions, you will only see the negative in life and miss out on all of the positive surrounding you.
- If you only try once or twice before giving up, you will achieve very little in your life.
- If you are generally sad, you will unfortunately create/draw more saddening experiences to yourself.
Health Benefits Of Self-Confidence
Essentially, you need to have a high level of self-confidence for the sake of your physical and mental health. Mental health is a topic that hasn’t been discussed very often in the African American community, until the last few years.
Many people have shared their stories, and have started conversations that are very necessary to cause a shift in the beliefs surrounding black people seeking professional help. Rather than being dismissive or religiously stubborn, now, more people are actively taking care of their mental health.
How does self-confidence affect physical health?
Everything in the physical starts with a mental process. Airplanes exist today, because mental processes brought them to reality. Technology, clothing, hairstyles were all mental processes first. When you lend your mental processes to negative things, you physically create negative experiences.
Often times, people who have a negative mindset tend to experience several ailments. Whether it’s an ache, irritation, or disease, if you can name it, they may have claimed it at some point or another. Though these people may not admit or even understand it, they have created negative experiences for themselves through maintaining a negative mindset. Not that all negative thoughts manifest as physical ailments. That’s just one result that can come of negative mental processes.
Your belief that positive things come to you on a consistent basis is important to your overall health. The more confidence you have in yourself will produce more positive thoughts and results in your life, and bring you health.
Financial Benefits Of Self-Confidence
Did you know that money is energy? This resource provides you access to your wants and needs. Because God gives you the desires of your heart and provides your every need, it’s important to stay in alignment with him. This ensures that your energy is matched to the energy of money/resources.
What does staying in alignment mean? It means to keep your heart and mind tuned to FAITH. When you operate in faith, you’re not stressing, or trying to force things to work out. Instead, you already know that things will work out, and you trust that you will figure it out, or that help will present itself at the perfect time.
Keeping that in mind, as a self-confident person, you will view money a little differently. Instead of it being a thing that you need to attain, you will see it as an energy source that flows to and through you.

You should now see that self-confidence is important to some major parts of your life. You want to focus on building in that area so that you can set yourself up for success. When your body and mind are both healthy, you are more able (and more likely) to accomplish whatever you want.
Do not try to rush through the building process. It’s called a process because it takes time to develop self-confidence. Don’t be so hasty to “get there”. There is no there to get to. The journey and the experiences that come with it are the most important here, because they cater to your learning.
