How to Benefit From Hardships

Did you know that regardless of how positive you might be, or how hard you might try to steer clear of negative experiences, you are not exempt from hardship, pain, and adversity?

I would love to tell you otherwise, but it’s the cold, hard truth.

Even worse, not enough people are willing to tell you that:

  1. LIFE HAPPENS.
  2. IT DOESN’T ALWAYS FEEL GOOD, BUT
  3. IT WILL BE OKAY.
  4. YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT, AND IN THE END,
  5. BE STRONGER FOR HAVING GONE THROUGH “IT”.

How You Can Benefit From Hardships

Honestly, enduring hardships is what helps us to grow. Negative experiences show us who we are and they challenge us to learn and to be better prepared in the future for similar situations.

I won’t ask if you’ve ever been through anything rough, heartbreaking, etc. because I already know you have. It’s a natural part of life.

I will ask, though…did you learn from it? When something else came along, did you do something different? Even if it was just to respond differently?

Food 4 Thought

You may get really excitable, scared, and nervous every time something unexpected happens in your life. Please allow me to call something to your attention, and you may start noticing a pattern.

  1. A NOT-SO-GREAT SITUATION OCCURS.
  2. YOU GET ALL BENT OUT OF SHAPE, WORRYING, COMPLAINING, AND MAKING YOURSELF SICK.
  3. THEN, WHATEVER THE THING WAS IS EVENTUALLY HANDLED, GOES AWAY, WORKS OUT, ETC, AND LIFE GOES ON.

Sound familiar?

The only point I’m aiming to make here is that there is no real need for to stress about it, especially if you can’t do anything about it. It’s much easier to make the decision to learn from the situation and to plan to behave differently the next time.

Please note: You will win, fail, win, fail, fail, fail, and fail, before change becomes more permanent.

Don’t beat yourself up, if you struggle with change. It takes time. Instead, you should feel good about recognizing that a change is needed in the first place.

Tip

Help yourself out by journaling. That way, you can see your own thought patterns change even slightly. Then, you should become more confident about the change happening within yourself.

The most beautiful thing is to understand that there will come another rough time, but because of who you’ve become, that time will pass a little quicker, and/or without having shaken you to your core like it used to do before.

Please share how you’re doing on your journey in the comments below.
