As I write this, it is September 17, 2018 at 11:37 PM. I was in the shower, less than ten minutes ago, when God laid what I’m about to share with you on my heart. It was totally for me, but I believe someone else needs to hear (read) this as well.
I felt like spending some time with God during my shower tonight. So I lifted him up in song (“come before his presence with singing” Psalms 100).
Thank you Lord
Thank you Lord
Thank you Lord
I just want to thank you Lord
After a few rounds of that lyric, I immediately began to quote Psalms 100. When I finished, something told me to “start at the beginning”. So, I did.
I started quoting Psalms 1, and as I neared the end of the scripture, it hit me. If you don’t know what Psalms 1 says, you can read it below.
PSALMS 1 (KJV)
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
I’ve been working so hard, trying to make things happen, when it has already been written that whatever I do shall prosper. All I have to do is stay consistent, diligent, obedient. That blessed me so much!
If I look back, just for a second, I can see God’s track record in my life. I’ve been winning. I’ve been elevating. I’ve been learning and growing. I don’t have to worry about whether or not I’m helping other people through this site. It is already so. I don’t have to worry about increasing my readership. It is already so.
Sometimes, I can get so caught up in working toward something that I forget just how far I’ve already come. Maybe you can relate. This was a reminder to me that God’s got this. I just have to give him something to bless.
The major thing that just about took my breath away in that hot shower was this:
“That bringeth forth his fruit in HIS season.”
Boah! If that doesn’t make you happy, I don’t know what will. I started thanking God nonstop when his words rang out in my head. I was witnessing him work in that moment.
In Your Season
When it’s my season, I will produce good fruit. Until then, according to the scriptures, I will be planted like a tree, and in my waiting, my leaf shall not wither.
In an episode of Wisdom Wednesday, I talk about the effects of focusing on what God has for you as opposed to envying other people for what God has blessed them with. It is much more beneficial to you, when you stay the course, knowing the whole time that when it is your season, God, who is a Just God, will see to it that you bring forth good fruit.
Until your time comes, keep working. Someone is paying attention. Most importantly, God sees you working. He sees the late nights you put in Day after day. He sees the two jobs you’re working. He sees you trying to stay positive and not complain. He sees you getting tired. He sees you wondering how much longer. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Your time is coming. Hold on, friend.
